About
What Seminal AI is, who it is for, and who runs it.
Data checked 2026-09-06Seminal AI is an independent reference manual for AI models, APIs and services. It exists to answer specific, practical questions: what does this model cost per million tokens, what context window does it actually support, which provider serves it, what does the vendor document and what does the vendor leave unsaid.
Who it is for
Anyone making a decision about AI systems and needing a figure they can check. Engineers sizing an inference budget. Founders comparing providers before signing. Analysts and writers who need a number with a date attached. Students and self-teachers mapping an unfamiliar landscape. The manual assumes technical literacy but not insider knowledge, and it does not assume anything about who you are beyond that.
What makes it different
Most AI directories are search-engine surfaces. They list hundreds of tools, rank them by nothing in particular, and go stale within a quarter. Seminal AI works differently on four points.
Dated data. Every figure carries the date it was last checked. If a price was verified in March and you are reading in September, you can see that and act accordingly.
Cited sources. Each model entry records the vendor page the figure came from. You can follow the link and confirm it yourself.
Honest limitations. Where a vendor publishes no number, we show a dash rather than guessing or writing zero. Where our data may lag an announcement, we say so.
No pay-for-placement. Nothing on this site can be bought. Inclusion, ordering and assessment are editorial decisions made against stated criteria. Some outbound links are affiliate links and are marked as such; they have no bearing on what appears or where. See the disclosure page for details.
Who operates it
Seminal AI is published by The Seminal Church (seminalchurch.org). It is a static site with no accounts, no logins and nothing for sale. It is funded by affiliate commissions and reserved advertising slots, both disclosed.

A wrong price in a reference manual is a bug. If you find one, please report it. Corrections are prioritised over everything else.
